T-Shirts designed by young female artist Elena Galln quickly garnered a cult among the fashion elite. Everyone from fashion designer Giles Deacon to rock star Wendy James (Transvision Vamp) or korean celebrity Tae Yang (Big Bang) have been spotted in one of her pop-culture amalgam designs. Versatile and self-taught, Gallen, has been acused of transvesting reality. Her provocative wit has awakened the curiosity of scene-kids, outsiders, fashionistas, bloggers and I-celebrities. Combining the naf, the odd and the minimalistic and inspired by trash culture, postmodernism, consumerism, independent movies and an unusual taste for monsters, ufos, blush, red lipstick, ligers, galaxies, horror films, transgression, mannequins, teenagers and nature, the character embodied by the artist has become outstanding beyond her creations. Her two first collections Freak Show (2007) and Luxury & Trash (2008) are characterized for twisting popular imagery in a very subtle and appealing manner. The unfussy white tees are emblazoned with surprising images such as Double-headed Bambis, Tattooed octopus ladies, bearded Snowhites, Paris Hiltons famous Chihuahua Tinkerbell and most famously, a bloody-nosed Kate Moss. Her work has been exhibited in Spain, Australia and South Korea and featured in Magazines such as Nylon, Vice, Glamcult and H Magazine; and her personal brand has stockists among the best fashion high-end boutiques (Barcelona, Bangkok, Madrid, Paris, Helsinki, Seoul, Naples, Torino, Hong Kong, Singapore...)
Las camisetas diseadas por la jven artista Elena Galln rpidamente
adquirieron un estatus de culto en la lite de la moda. Personajes
como el diseador de moda britnico Giles Deacon, la estrella del rock
Wendy James (Transvision Vamp) o la celebridad coreana Tae Yang (Big
Bang) ya han sido vistos con una de sus creaciones. Multidisciplinar y
autodidacta, Gallen, ha sido acusada de travestir la realidad. Su
ingenio provocador ha despertado la curiosidad de scene-kids,
alternativos, aficionados a la moda, bloggers y celebridades.
Combinando lo naf, lo raro y lo minimalista; e inspirada por la
cultura basura, el postmodernismo, el cine independiente, el
consumismo y su extraa pasin por los monstruos, los ovnis, el
colorete, el carmn rojo, los ligres, las galaxias, las pelculas de
terror, la transgresin, los maniqus, los adolescentes y la
naturaleza, el personaje encarnado por la artista ha trascendido a su
obra. Sus dos primeras colecciones Freak Show (2007) y Lujo y
basura (2008) se caracterizan por dar un giro refinado y
estticamente atractivo a la imaginera popular. Las camisetas estn
adoradas con sorprendentes imgenes como Bambis de dos cabezas,
seoras pulpo tatuadas, Blancanieves barbudas, el archiconocido
chihuahua de Paris Hilton, y ms famosa todava, la Kate Moss de nariz
sangrante. Su trabajo ha sido expuesto en Espaa, Korea y Australia,
publicado en revistas como Nylon, Vice, Glamcult o H Magazine; y su
marca tiene distribuidores en las ms selectas boutiques de moda
